Larissa Iapichino won the gold medal in the long jump at the Toruń Copernicus Cup, the final event of the World Indoor Tour Gold, thanks to a jump of 6.72 meters on her first attempt. With a very consistent series of jumps and no major highlights (6.63, 6.65, 6.66, no jump, 6.68), the Italian long jumper managed to edge out Switzerland’s Annik Kälin by just one centimeter (6.71 m), thus securing not only the day’s victory but also her overall victory in the world indoor circuit. This triumph represents an important sign of competitive strength ahead of the World Indoor Championships, which will be held on the same Polish arena at the end of March.
